This is a layout from Element. This is my first impressions which is out 4 different versions. I sometimes pull in too close and miss the mystery in a scene. I"m aiming to make that weakness into a strength, pulling away where I can at different points in the story: Establishing shots.

LEGISLATE!!
It’s actually how government is meant to work. Yes, it’s slow and frustrating, but it's how the constitution works. Congress is meant to get off their asses and do their job, which is to LEGISLATE. Congressmen and women on both sides of the political isle say the President should have kept D.A.C.A. in place, as President Obama set up to help children of those migrants living in the United States with out documentation. Honestly, this was a patchwork idea that was never meant to be a permanent fix and Obama told us then. This was meant to spur Congress to actually move on the immigration issue during an election year. It pissed Republicans off, because it looked like a political grab for votes, and if we’re fair, there was a little of that, but the moral spirit of the executive order was to help people. Argue the politics and ‘rule of law’ all you want, but there was a moral intention behind our President’s decision to create the order, and from a humanitarian point of view it was the right thing to do when all choices were bad. A President does not create law, otherwise he’d be a king and our country’s founding fathers did not want that shit to happen so they added two accomplices to create just law, the Legislative and Judicial branches, respectively. It is the Legislature I want you to focus on here, because it is they who are charged by the U.S. Constitution to create comprehensible immigration laws to help the children like the D.A.C.A. recipients and their families who has been here for all of these years and fair to U.S. citizens. The problem didn’t arise yesterday it’s been here for decades. It’s TOUGH on the families involved, seen and unseen, which is why our representatives have to be PUSHED now to do the right thing.
Chris Christie has a saying I actually agree with, ‘It’s hard to hate up close’. The last 16 years of The U.S. politics have been a real crazy case of Group Cowardice. Both sides of the isle are guilty and we’re all fead up. I understand it. It’s time to articulate our anger on all of these subjects and solve these issues intelligently with all viewpoints involved equally. It’s time to solve Immigration for all people of the United States.
We want these people to stay here. I don’t have to give examples, we’ve heard them all before. Each of us has our own reasons for wanting to stay in this country once we have benefited from it’s laws and have fead our family with it’s resources. But the 14th amendment does not help all of those who came here by any means in search of better lives for their families, crossing the U.S. border at personal time of need. I’m not sure, if pressed in particular situations, I would not make the same decision as some of these families who migrated from different countries around the world.
We have to create laws for these citizens of our country. Let's make this FULL Congress and this President do their job and legislate our way out of this problem. As I write this, Senators (R ) Lyndsey Graham and (D) Dick Durbin say, with bipartisan intent, that they want to solve this issue. Time to put actions to those words and get it done. But it will also take our effort to get this done. Politicians like to divide and conquer. Do not let them do this and separate us from our goal of a perfect union. People in power want us to get angry, sit at home during election, or destroy our own property in protest. We have the American Constitution on our side and if it's truly written to be fair and honest, then we test it now and make it so.
Do not give up, Dreamers!! This is not over and based on those of you I have met you will NOT just LET the actions of our government today just happen without a fight. You have friends and connections to be made and old hands to shake to get a fair compromise for all involved. Get cracking! You may feel you should not have to do this. False, every nationality, race, creed, and group of people in this country has had to fight for their identity and this particular issue is your community’s continuance of the shaping of your own identity within this land we all love and call home. You may still feel that you shouldn’t have to, but it is what it is and you must choose to fight. There’s no time to complain, no time to cry, or get distracted. Politicians will throw things in like 'walls' in exchange for votes and you'll have to use the rules of the constitution to make your case, BOLDLY and unapologetically about your side of the issue. But do not give up. Equality comes from hard work and this is yours to do.
Do NOT give up!!
-K
P.S. Many of you will have your own point of view on this subject. If your commenting here please understand that slogans and talking points are not welcome only because we’ve all used them and they do not solve the issue. Honesty is always welcome so if you have a dissenting view on this or any other subject on this blog please do so thoughtfully as many are reading your view and it’s easier to read them if there are less venom and more reason behind your words.

Welcome to koiturnbull.com
Welcome Everyone!
Koi Turnbull here, and I want to welcome you to the revamped version of koiturnbull.com. The reboot is cool and deceptively simple all by the hands of Kyle whose work goes far beyond what you see here so MANY thanks to Kyle for a beautiful site!!!
To those unfamiliar with my work, thanks for stopping by. I have been an illustrator in the Comic book industry for about 20 years. I reside in Los Angeles, where I call home, but I am a New Yorker, born and raised and still a METS FAN!!! That's right, a METS fan!! I grew up in the shadow of Shea and root for them to the last game............. Until the Yankees go to the playoffs and then I'm Yankee fan to rep NYC. Although this year is the year I might root for the Dodgers. Not because they're winning every game and it's hard to carry orange in a sea of blue, but because Dodgers got three former Mets who were GREAT for us. So, I'm torn this year. But for now, enough of this baseball talk ;-)
For about 6 years I lived in North Carolina, where I still have friends for life and where I learned a lot about drawing as a kid being around great guys(artists) like Rick Davis, Randy Green, WAKI, Mike Weiringo, Chuck Wojkiewictz and MANY others like Bilal, Wanda and slew of friends who are like family. All of these experiences made me the artist I am today. We don't just learn from those who help us out professionally, but also our connections to family make up our values that we express as artist. Art is an expression of the human spirit, it's hard to do it without soul.
I definitely want to uses this daily blog for you guys to learn and see the process I go through daily with my art, the ups and downs and how I do what I do. I really want to give you a inside into how I go from a blank 11X17 page to what you read. I think this will be a fun journey for us all. I want to keep you guys up to date with my projects and grow a great community of readers that LOVE art, comics and the fun things in life! This blog wouldn't be right if i didn't also share my personal side as Artist, because its always a balancing act with being at the board and living a life outside my work
Lastly, my 1st blog would not be possible without mentioning the LOVE of my life, my partner in crime and all the other cute names you can think of.... YAZMIN! She got this ball rolling and continues to push it all, while I am stuck at the board pushing out the ART! It's a perfect balance...... WELL, we make it as balanced as possible. It tends to go more one way then the other, that's when one of us sets us back on track. The HARDEST part of being an artist is balancing your relationships and meeting your deadlines. All in all, I am glad I never settled and have Yaz by my side. I wouldn't want it any other way.
She's not just looking after me, but the 3 babies we have..........babies as in 3 CATS! Yes, we're one of those ;-) Mom and Dad to 3 beautiful kitties. Messiah, Prince and Zion. More to come on them later, they deserve to have a post all to themselves. ;-)
